So when will the final day be? You all should know this. The last 2 Marathon shows to ever happen are just over a week away. It's exciting. It's sad. It's all kinds of things.

Here's what we've been up to: Aaron's been on vacation for like 2 months. What else is new, right? Licky just bought a motorcycle, so there's a good chance he's going to be dead by the time next week rolls around. On a sidenote, anyone feel like learning all the songs on bass in the event that he doesn't make it? The Beav has been busy writing inspirational (read: thoroughly offensive, yet funny) emails to all of his bandmates. Maybe if you're lucky he'll get wasted some evening and write you one! Nat Mo has been spending time playing in the Polar Bear Club. He went from being the baby in Marathon to being the old jaded guy that hangs out in the van by himself with a 22 oz of Bud in Polar Bear Club. Good job, Morris. Keep it up. Me? Well I've been working, complaining, drinking, complaining some more, bbq-ing, and hanging out with Bruce Willis.

We might be taping the last show or two and compiling it along with some other stuff into a DVD. We also might not do that. Surprise, surprise!

I don't even think we're going to practice before the last shows. We've got to stay true to form here, people. That said, we're playing pretty much every song Marathon has ever written. That's like 18 songs, man! Longest sets ever. Granted, we're not playing all of them at one show. There's your excuse to go to both the Jersey and Syracuse shows. This update has gone from informational to horseshit. Come to the shows! Then come party and dance! See you next week. End Transmission. -e

Last Shows!

All of our last shows are posted, and you can keep checking here for the most up-to-date info (door times, door cost, etc.)

Special thanks to Rory, Nick, Matt, and...me, ahem, for being so gracious and putting together each of our four final shows.

Also on the shows page, you can find a little statement about why we broke up. Yup.

NEWS! bad news...

On a very sad note, we just said goodbye to our good friend Donnie. If you have ever met Donnie, you know how reliable and generous he was. He did his best to make everyone comfortable, and his door was always open to provide shelter from the harshest conditions and the shittiest shows. He is the most giving friend I have ever known, and I will miss him dearly. He was also the biggest van that anyone's ever seen, and on the road, he was a God among insects. Goodnight, sweet Prince.

The rumors are flying faster than the sound barrier, and this is the place to get the best up-to-date information. Yes, we are breaking up. More details on the shows page.

Sunday Sunday Sunday, it's mayhem, mayhem, mayhem!

We have a kickass NYC show on Super Bowl Sunday. Since there aren't any punks (besides Licky) who like football, we'll be expecting you at the show. Come out to see us play with New Mexican Disaster Squad and None More Black. Do it. - A

Exciting and true facts about Marathon!

1) We are a featured band on Absolutepunk.net. Go there.

2) Our kickass full length is STILL for sale. STILL! That shit's never going out of print, baby, so order it for your little sister before she gets into Morrissey. (Yes, I'm into Morrissey, but I waited until I was 25 to get lame.)

3) If you need a quick Marathon primer, go to our Purevolume site. Then buy our CD. It will make pretty much everyone happy if you do.

4) We've got some shows cooking for February (still booking them, so that's all TBA and whatnot)!

5) The Broncos are still alive! And maybe no one else in Marathon cares since the Giants lost, but I'm writing the update, so I get to do some bragging. Especially because Licky and Brian took me to the Giants/Broncos game this year just so they could laugh at me when the Broncos lost. But who's laughing now? (Answer: The Colts)

6) Can we all stop pretending that Bush is ever going to nominate a human being to the Supreme Court? Either you're into Judicial Androids, or you aren't, but please stop acting like this is anything but the future.

Okay, that last one wasn't a fact. But we do wish you a happy new year. Factual. -aa

Updates? We don't need no stinking updates? We have some shows coming up in the next few weeks (I know... shocking, right?) so check out the shows section to get in on that action.

Check this hot item out! Right now eMusic.com is having a sweet deal. You sign up for a FREE trial and you get 50 free downloads. That means that you can get the Marathon full length in its entirety for free. Even if you already have it, go get it again, because we get paid for it! And everyone likes it when we get paid! While you're there get the new Fire When Ready album, too. That will leave you 27 more free downloads to get some Bad Brains or Lawrence Arms or some shit (Well at least that's what I got after downloading the Marathon and FWR stuff). Click HERE to check it out.

Other than that there's not much to report. We're still old. Nate's still angry about something. I'm still complaining. Aaron's still wearing shorts. Licky's still getting married and the Beav is still eating foie gras and talking incessantly about hamburgers. -e

10.07.05

Holy shit. It's already October. Man, it's hard to believe that we recorded our full length a year ago. I guess that means that we're about ready to start writing another, huh? I think it sounds like a great plan. In the meantime make sure you pick up our full length on Reignition Recordings. Shit is good!

Thanks to everyone who came out to all the shows recently. We had great times despite a few bouts of horseshit.

Keep an eye out for Marathon and the infamous No Trigger on the road for a hot minute in November. Word on the street is that those guys just got finished recording their debut full length for Nitro Records. If you want a copy Marathon will be giving them away at shows, on our website, various messageboards, etc. We'll see how they like it!

Until next time... Stay classy, San Diego. -e

Vice Magazine had this to say about our new record: "I moved into my own house at 18. I had inherited it and invited as many of my friends as I could to live there with me. On a good week we would have 30 people crashing out. Walls and windows were smashed, bottles were golfed, fireworks and fire extinguishers were bandied about freely, and Bad Reigion and Dead Kennedys logos were carved into arms. It was the most fun I have ever fucking had and I'm confident that at some point a Marathon-shaped scar will adorn the arm of the next generation me." - Bryce Franich

Fuck yeah. (PS, feel free to take artist's license with what a Marathon-shaped scar would look like.)

Apologies that our website was derelict for a bit there...we're on tour, so access to the finer comforts of life (internet, rum, fake chicken patties, etc.) have not been flowing like wine. The places to stay, however, have been remarkably prolific, so thanks to everyone who has housed/fed us in the past two weeks.

Our record is out! It's been selling like hotcakes. That's right, at the same rate that hotcakes sell. And I used to work at a pancake house that sold shitload of hotcakes, so you get the idea.

Don't you hate that when bands tell you all kinds of shit that is coming soon to their website but isn't there yet? Me too. To celebrate irony, I'd like to announce that we'll have links to reviews, lyrics for the new record, and interviews I've been doing, but not yet. Soon, my friends, soon.
-Aaron

PS Oh yeah, we came in 4th in that PunkRadioCast vote. Good work!
